All thanks to you, the inaugural Themba Gala, in proud partnership with Rialheim, was a huge success.
The inaugural Themba Gala called on the riches of our unique society by auctioning some of South Africa’s finest art, donated by 24 of our country’s top established and emerging artists. The donation of these works by local artists to Make A Difference Leadership Foundation enables South Africa’s future leaders to follow their dreams in realising a better future, not only for themselves but for their society at large.
The rich and diverse creative culture of South Africa was brought to life by the iconic Zolani Mahola and Arno Carstens and My Neighbour’s Wife, a live graffiti performance by internationally renowned, and Cape Town-based graffiti artist, Falko fascinated our guests at arrival and this piece was also auctioned off on the night.

Our generous artists once again went above and beyond expectations, offering our guests access to an exclusive, never-been-seen viewing of Mbongeni Buthelezi’s up and coming exhibition – Gated Communities (soon to be on display at the Melrose Arch Art Gallery), together with numerous sculptures by Anton Smit and Jaco Sieberhagen were on display, and for auction.

The venue was adorned with bespoke Rialheim décor including over 1000 handmade ceramic birds, Humanity Vases, Industrial Candle Sticks in Bronze and our unique #1000Leaders origami crane installation which was folded by our scholars, symbolising our dream to support #1000Leaders on our programme.
