Profession: Project Manager at SovTech
Mad2Run crossed my path last year, after the first group had completed the first event and immediately became an item on my bucket list. I’m a bit of a sucker when it comes to getting roped into doing rather loony events and challenges. So it comes as no surprise when I first heard of Mad2Run that I was fixed on being part of the mad adventure.
As a bit of a wanderer, I thought to myself why not take to the open road and make my way from Joburg to Cape Town… on foot. With not a single half marathon to my name, I’ve adopted the “ignorance is bliss” outlook to the week of 8 consecutive half marathons which lies ahead of us.
While Mad2Run will be no small feat, every blister and aching muscle will be a reminder of the constant struggle so many people endure on a daily basis to keep bread and butter on the table. As the father of our democratic country so fittingly stated “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” it now remains our duty, as a nation, to live up to his legacy… and I plan on doing that 1km at a time!
