Main Purpose of Role:

The role of a Junior Scholar Coordinator is twofold. Firstly, within this position it is essential to employ the person-centred approach in order to ensure comprehensive support for high school learners and tertiary students alike. Keeping in touch with the scholars is critical; assessing needs and issues they may face while also pointing them towards personal growth chances are all part of providing these individuals with the best opportunity to realise their full potential.

Secondly, this role will offer logistic and administrative assistance for tasks involving the MAD Leadership Foundation Scholarship Programme. Individuals excelling in this role should be able to grasp new concepts quickly and possess excellent attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate will need strong communication skills alongside the aptitude for working with others collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive support to several scholars through regular contact, virtual and in-person.

• Keep accurate written records of all scholar and scholar-related meetings, communications, and interventions in accordance with the organisation’s requirements.

• Apply initiative within work procedures in the delivery of scholar support to meet the needs of both scholars and program requirements.

• Build strong connections with scholars and other stakeholders to facilitate effective scholar support.

• Regularly liaise with external stakeholders to provide efficient support and enhance opportunities and support for scholars.

• Actively participate in team-based activities to contribute ideas around the development of the program and its practices.

• Management of all administrative matters pertaining to the scholars including, but not limited to: payments, travel arrangements and arranging for interventions

• Monitoring and reporting on scholars’  academic, social and personal development.

• Coordination and implementation of academic & psychosocial support services where necessary.

• Assisting the team in planning, organising and attending functions or events for our scholars.

• Assist with various administrative tasks relating to the MAD Leadership Foundation programme

Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:

Required:

• Tertiary qualification in Education, Psychology or Social Work

• At least two years of related experience required in working with young people between the ages of 13 and 23.

• Demonstrated experiences supporting young people to achieve academic success and enhance personal development and mental health.

Advantageous:

• Significant experience in case management.

Skills and Competencies:

• Intermediate skills in using the Microsoft Office suite.

• Ability to relate to young people.

• Ability to work independently under general supervision.

• Ability to utilise a high level of interpersonal skills, including empathy, compassion sensitivity, diplomacy, and the ability to negotiate effectively.

• Ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide range of people from different cultural backgrounds and to respond sensitively and appropriately to people in a variety of situations.

• Cultural competence, to understand and value clients’ unique perspectives.

Academic Support Coordinator

 Team: Scholar Support Unit

Main Purpose of Role:

The Academic Support Coordinator will assist scholars in exploring and navigating their career paths. Through employing the person-centred approach support and guidance will be provided by helping scholars identify their strengths, interests, and values, and then assist aligning them with suitable subject and career options. It involves facilitating discussions on subject choices and career guidance, assessing their needs and potential challenges in their career journey, and guiding them toward opportunities for personal growth. These efforts collectively contribute to providing these individuals with the optimal chance to realise their full potential.


Key Responsibilities:

• Career Guidance, Career Counselling, and Planning:
o Coordinate and host webinars on subject and career guidance.
o Manage Grade 9 subject choice and Grade 11 career guidance activities.
o Develop subject choice guides to assist learners in selecting subjects for the FET Phase.
o Maintain accessible career resources for scholars and scholar coordinators.
o Conduct ongoing assessments to support scholar decision-making regarding careers and subject choices.
o Provide individual subject choice and career counselling to scholars, coordinating assessments of interests, values, and skills.
o Coordinate and arrange job shadowing opportunities with various case managers; research, identify, engage, and sustain job shadowing and internship opportunities for scholars.

• Tertiary Education Support:
o Coordinate and facilitate university readiness workshops.
o Research, identify, engage, and sustain opportunities to prepare scholars for university.
o Identify and engage opportunities to create National Benchmark Test (NBT) preparation courses.
o Coordinate and track university applications.
o Support learners in aligning subject choices and grades with university study and career opportunities.
o Research and coordinate university application guidance webinars.

• Plan, Manage, and Facilitate MAD Leadership Foundation Intake Assessments:
o Engage in the identification of new scholars through the delivery of psychometric assessments to select potential leaders; provide reports and input to the scholar recruitment team.
o Continuously review the assessment process to ensure the utilization of best practice methods.

Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:

Required:

• Tertiary qualification in Education, Educational Psychology, Learning Support, Registered Psychometrist/or related field.
• At least two years of related experience required in working with young people between the ages of 13 and 23.
• Demonstrated experiences supporting young people to achieve academic success and enhance personal development.

Advantageous:

• 3+ years experience in a Guidance Counsellor role with experience working at a High School is preferential.
