About the Scholarship

In honor of Mike Ilsley, the FEM Education Foundation NPC (FEMEF) has established the Mike Ilsley Memorial Scholarship to support an undergraduate student in the field of accounting. This scholarship is a way to remember Mike and his dedication to education and ethical leadership.

This unique opportunity is now open for applications for studies in the 2023 academic year to all who are eligible.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must: 

  • Be a South African citizen;
  • Studying towards becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)).
  • Be a first, or second-year student enrolled at a South African university for an undergraduate degree that is SAICA accredited;
  • Have an academic average of 70% for 2022, and at least 70% for Financial Accounting;
  • Gross Household Income of no more than R25,000 per month.

Additional recommendations: 

  • Embraces a strong value system and a sense of responsibility  
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities  
  • Actively involved in community service  

About the Scholarship: 

We are proud to offer a comprehensive scholarship that covers the full cost of attendance for the Undergraduate- and Honours degrees required to qualify as a CA(SA). Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis, and our selection criteria include academic performance, community involvement, and leadership potential. In addition to financial support, we also provide mentorship, wellness-, career- and leadership development support to help our scholars reach their full potential.
