Jennifer Lioul

Bio: Jennifer is passionate about transformation. Her studies have equipped her with skills for tackling complex topics, enhancing her ability to engage with diverse individuals, adapt quickly, and resolve conflicts. She has participated in leadership courses and facilitated discussions on emotional intelligence and conflict management. With tutoring and sales experience, she has developed strong interpersonal and multitasking abilities.

Khayalethu Mthethwa

Bio: Khayalethu is a software engineer with a background in finance. He has majored in Information Systems, gaining extensive knowledge in both technical and non-technical aspects of developing software solutions.

Career Interests: Software Engineer (IT), Business Analyst (IT), Data Engineer. He is open to internships or entry-level roles and is available to work in Gauteng or the Western Cape.

Mahlatse Masegare

Degree/Diploma: BSc in Actuarial Sciences

Expected Graduation Date: 2024

Bio: Mahlatse has successfully held a secretarial position in her high school’s 2019 SRC and achieved three provisional exemptions by June 2024. Through the AIM vacation work programme, she gained exposure to the actuarial profession, enhancing her Excel skills in modelling, data analysis, and report writing. She collaborated with teams to model loan repayments, value insurance contracts for a reinsurance company, and assess premiums. Her studies involved using R programming to analyse and present data effectively. Mahlatse is eager to continue learning and growing in her profession, with aspirations of becoming a fellow, engaging in research, and developing products that benefit both the company and its stakeholders.

Career Interests: Mahlatse is open to opportunities in life insurance, health insurance, banking, and roles suited for the actuarial profession or data science. She is interested in graduate trainee or junior/entry-level analyst or data scientist positions.

Micayla Adems

Bio: Micayla is pursuing a career in the field of education and understands the challenges of coming from a disadvantaged background. She knows what it takes to succeed academically and the impact that education can have on one’s life. Having achieved five distinctions annually, she is dedicated and hardworking. Micayla aspires to be an educator who inspires and empowers students, particularly those facing similar challenges. Committed to creating an inclusive learning environment, she aims to positively impact her future students and the broader education community.

She is a qualified Senior and FET phase educator specializing in Afrikaans, Business Studies, and Economic and Management Science, with three years of teaching practice experience. She has also volunteered as an Afrikaans level 3 educator at Hawequa Correctional Facility and mentored first-year students.

Career Interests: Micayla is passionate about working in diverse classrooms and implementing inclusive teaching practices. She seeks to develop engaging curriculum materials that promote critical thinking and creativity. Additionally, she aims to support students’ personal growth and emotional well-being, mentor others, and collaborate with the community to enhance student engagement.

Nhlakanipho Yende

Bio: Nhlakanipho has a strong background in community work, having been involved since high school and throughout her university years. In 2024, she was honoured to be elected as class representative. She is the founder of Kuponya, a mental health organization dedicated to teaching students techniques for achieving good mental well-being and running support groups for those struggling with mental health issues. Nhlakanipho’s aspirations are to be in professional spaces that give her access to resources, knowledge, and skills so she can pass them on to people of colour (POC).

Career Interests: Consulting, investment management, finance, and accounting.

Nomsa Dlamini

Institution: University of Cape Town

Degree/Diploma: Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy

Year of Graduation: 2023

Bio: Nomsa is currently completing community service at St. Mary’s KwaMagwaza Hospital and is passionate about promoting well-being. Eager to apply her knowledge and skills to patient care, she aspires to work with a sports team in the future. During her studies, she participated in the Faculty of Health Sciences’ mentorship program, honing valuable interpersonal and time management skills. Bongokuhel supported fellow students through the Madrinha Trust Scholarship Programme, fostering a collaborative learning environment. As a member of the Golden Key Society and the South African Society of Physiotherapy, she stayed updated on industry advancements. Leadership roles as a Class Representative and in the Representative Council of Learners (RCL) sharpened her problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities. She is dedicated to helping individuals on their path to recovery, utilizing evidence-based techniques and therapeutic exercises for optimal rehabilitation outcomes.

Paige Harvey

Bio: Paige is pursuing a BA in Media Studies, engaging with thought-provoking topics such as global culture, international relations, and the impact of COVID-19 on the Global South. Through her studies, she has developed a passion for understanding society’s complexities and how media shapes our world. She is honored to serve as Miss Soweto 2023/2024, making history as the first coloured woman to hold this title. This platform has enabled her to advocate for community development, particularly in her hometown, Eldorado Park, where she focuses on education and creating opportunities for others. Additionally, Paige is an aspiring influencer and micro-content creator, who enjoys producing lifestyle and beauty content on Instagram and TikTok. Collaborating with brands allows her to merge creativity with storytelling, paving the way for her career in media and content creation.
